Online Therapy for High-Functioning Anxiety in Washington
Specialized online therapy for women who are exhausted from holding everything together, available anywhere in Washington State
Washington draws ambitious, driven people. The tech industry on the Eastside, the startups in Seattle, the research institutions, the competitive corporate culture across the Puget Sound region. If you’re a woman who ended up here because you’re good at what you do, you probably also ended up carrying a level of stress that doesn’t match the life you’ve built.
You’re not falling apart. You’re functioning quite well, actually. You’re getting everything done, you’re showing up for the people around you, and you look put-together from the outside. But your jaw is tight, your sleep is fractured, and you spend more mental energy than you’d admit scanning for signs that someone is mad at you, replaying conversations that happened hours ago, and calculating what to say before you say anything honest.
The anxiety doesn’t stay at work. It follows you into your friendships, your relationship, your family dynamics. It’s in the text message you read four times before sending, the plans you cancel because you’ve already used up your whole self by 5pm, the partner who gets the carefully edited version of how you’re actually doing. I work with women across Washington who are ready for that to change.
A Different Approach to Anxiety
Most anxiety therapy focuses on your thoughts: challenging them, reframing them, replacing them with more rational ones. And if you’re someone who’s already very good at thinking, that approach probably felt productive in session and made almost no difference in your body when the actual moment of anxiety arrived.
I use art therapy and somatic therapy because the anxiety you’re carrying isn’t a thinking problem. It’s stored in the way your shoulders rise before a difficult conversation, the way your stomach drops when someone’s tone shifts, the way your whole body braces when you see a certain name on your phone. Those responses didn’t start last year. They started long before your current life, and they’re still running because nobody has worked with you at the level where they actually live.
I don’t ask you to talk your way through it. I help you get below the talking, into the place where the tension, the guarding, and the constant scanning can start to release. That’s where things change, not just in session, but in the moments that used to cost you hours of your evening.

How Online Therapy Works in Washington State
I’m licensed in Washington as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC #MHC.LH.61685622), and I see clients throughout the state via secure video sessions. You don’t need to be in Seattle or on the Eastside, though many of my Washington clients are.
Whether you’re in Tacoma, Olympia, Bellingham, or on the other side of the Cascades, you can work with me from wherever you have privacy and a reliable connection.
Washington has been a leader in telehealth access, and state law requires insurers to cover telehealth services at parity with in-person care. That’s relevant if you’re submitting Superbills for out-of-network reimbursement, because your plan likely treats online sessions the same as it would an office visit.
There’s something that works particularly well about doing this kind of therapy online. You’re in your own space, the same kitchen where you have the tense phone calls with your mother, the same home office where you sit after a hard day trying to decompress before your partner gets home. When we’re working with how your body holds stress, that context matters. You’re not in a sterile office trying to recall what the anxiety feels like. You’re in the place where it shows up most of the time.
Serving Women Across Washington State
Seattle — Seattle’s pace is relentless, and the culture of ambition here can make it hard to admit that you’re struggling when everyone around you seems to be thriving. Many of my Seattle clients are women who moved here for a career and realized the anxiety they brought with them only intensified in a city that rewards constant output. Bellevue and the Eastside — The Eastside tech corridor, Bellevue, Redmond, Kirkland, Bothell, Woodinville, has one of the highest concentrations of driven, high-performing women in the state. Microsoft, Meta, Google, and hundreds of startups create an environment where excellence is the baseline and the pressure compounds quietly. I work with women on the Eastside who are successful by every external measure and exhausted by the internal cost. Learn more about therapy for high-functioning anxiety in Bellevue.
Tacoma and South Sound — Tacoma has its own identity, distinct from Seattle, with a growing professional population and a community that’s more affordable but not immune to the same pressures. I work with women in Tacoma, Olympia, Lacey, and the broader South Sound area who want access to specialized care without making the drive north.
Bellingham and Northern Washington — If you’re in Bellingham, Anacortes, or the San Juan Islands, you know that small-community living has its own kind of pressure. Everybody knows everybody, and finding a therapist who specializes in what you need, who isn’t also your neighbor’s therapist, can be its own challenge. Online therapy solves that.
Central and Eastern Washington — Spokane, Yakima, the Tri-Cities, Wenatchee. If you’re east of the Cascades, your options for specialized anxiety therapy are limited by geography. Online sessions remove that barrier entirely.
I provide online therapy to women across Washington, including Seattle, Bellevue, Redmond, Kirkland, Bothell, Woodinville, Tacoma, Olympia, Lacey, Bellingham, Spokane, Vancouver, Camas, Ridgefield, Yakima, the Tri-Cities, Wenatchee, and communities throughout the Puget Sound region and beyond. Wherever you are in the state, if you have a private space and a reliable connection, we can work together.
What to Expect
Sessions are online via secure video. You’ll need a private space and a device with a camera. Most of my clients do sessions from their home office, bedroom, or car.
We meet weekly to start. The kind of anxiety you’re carrying took years to build, and it needs consistent work to shift. Weekly sessions give us momentum. Most clients move to biweekly after two to three months as the changes start holding on their own.
Sessions are $250 for 55 minutes. I also offer 90-minute sessions ($375) and therapy intensives. I don’t bill insurance directly, but I provide Superbills you can submit for potential out-of-network reimbursement. Washington’s mental health parity laws are strong, and many PPO plans, including Premera, Regence, and Kaiser Permanente, offer meaningful reimbursement for out-of-network therapy.

Jeniffer Duncan, LMHC
I’m a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Washington (LMHC #MHC.LH.61685622) and a Licensed and Registered Art Therapist.
I’ve spent 18 years working with women who are holding everything together on the outside while their body tells a different story.
I’m based in Portland, Oregon, and see clients throughout both Oregon and Washington online.

Yes. For the kind of body-based and creative work I do, being in your own environment, the space where your anxiety actually shows up, is an advantage. Many of my Washington clients tell me they prefer it to the in-person therapy they’ve tried before.
-
You need to be physically located in Washington or Oregon at the time of our session. I’m licensed in both states. If you travel between them or relocate, we can plan for that.
-
I’m not in-network with any insurance company, but I provide Superbills for out-of-network reimbursement. Washington has strong mental health parity protections, which means your plan is required to cover mental health services comparably to medical services. It’s worth checking your specific out-of-network benefits with a quick call to your insurer.

Talk therapy builds understanding, and that’s valuable. But if you’ve already done a lot of self-reflection and the anxiety is still showing up in your body the same way, it’s because understanding and body-level change happen in different places. I work with what your body is still holding, using creative and physical approaches that reach the tension, the guarding, and the constant scanning in a way that conversation alone doesn’t. Most of my clients notice the difference within the first few sessions.
-
Art therapy, the way I use it, is about giving your experience a form that your analytical mind can’t edit or control. It’s a way to get out of the thinking mode you’ve been running in your whole life. Most of my clients are skeptical at first and surprised by how quickly it works. Don’t worry: you don’t need to be artistic or even interested in art.
